This is a multi-pack containing four 7 lbs. (one gallon) jars of blue indicating silica gel. The silica gel desiccant is made of silicon dioxide and formed into hard 3-5 mm diameter beads. The beads are impregnated with cobalt chloride, a moisture indicating material with a deep blue color that turns pink when saturated. Silica gel has a vast network of interconnecting pores with diameters of 20-30?. These pores have a strong affinity for moisture and use physical adsorption and capillary condensation to trap and hold it. Silica gel will remove moisture at temperatures as high as 220°F, but is best used at room temperature (70-90°F) and high relative humidity (60-90%). Blue silica gel contains cobalt chloride and should not be used in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical applications.
